An apprentice time served Electrician having over 40 years experience within the electrical industry.
Joined Yorkshire Electricity (Npower) in 1988, developing within the utility metering industry, acquiring accreditations for all types of metering including whole current / LV / HV and Gas.
Over the years progressing within Npower, obtaining roles including, Auditor / Field Team Manager/Technical Support Engineer, and finally part of the Npower leadership team as head of Compliance and Technical Support, responsible for 3 departments, Audit function, Technical Support & Compliance.
Having started in the gas industry as an apprentice gas fitter for British Gas in August 1970. After 38 years I exited British Gas to join N Power for a further 13 years. Having gained 51 years’ experience in the gas industry. During this time, I have worked in all departments from gas fitting, installations, gas central heating sales, sales training & gas technical support. Throughout this time, I covered a wide variety of management positions encompassing all aspects of the above job’s descriptions.
In my role at Npower, I held the position of the gas and electrical technical support manager. Within this role I managed 12 highly skilled gas and electrical technical support engineers. These skilled professionals supplied a range of technical support to 800 smart meter engineers. Additionally, I worked with all departments to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
My role was to also support all departments of Npower from a compliance and technical point including the creation of processes and procedures including the gas and electric smart metering manuals.

Dave Wright was Chairman of the AMO and Technical Assurance Manager for Npower.
He is recognised across gas and electricity metering for his tireless work to ensure that the sector is operating efficiently and supporting effective retail competition.
With a deep level of understanding of electricity and gas metering he has been involved in the change panels progressing changes to industry data flows.
Dave has in recent years participated in some of the most significant change panels leading the reform of the energy market and has an established reputation for robust and impartial representation of the views of the MEM sector.
